Lufthansa City Airlines officially commenced flight operations from Frankfurt Airport, the Lufthansa Group's largest hub. February will add Berlin and Valencia, followed by Düsseldorf and Málaga in March. Fleet Growth: Frankfurt base fleet will expand to seven Airbus A320neo aircraft by September 2026. Lufthansa City Airlines already operates 13 aircraft in Munich. Staffing: About 60 employees hired in Frankfurt so far, with plans to recruit 80 cockpit crew and 200 cabin crew in the coming months. Performance: In 2025, the airline operated nearly 16,000 flights, carrying 2 million passengers to 27 destinations. Alliance Membership: Since September 2025, Lufthansa City Airlines has been part of Star Alliance, giving passengers access to global connectivity and benefits. This expansion positions Lufthansa City Airlines as a stronger player in European short-haul traffic, complementing Lufthansa’s broader network while focusing on efficiency with modern A320neo aircraft.
