Civil Aviation Milestone: The flight was flagged off by Civil Aviation Minister Shri Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, alongside HAL leadership and DGCA officials. Indigenous Engine Certification: HAL received DGCA certification for the Shakti Civil Engine, the first aero engine certified for indigenous production in India — a leap in self-reliance. Design & Performance: - 5.5-tonne, light twin-engine, multi-role helicopter. - Equipped with twin Shakti 1H1C engines. - Features a civil-certified glass cockpit and modern avionics suite. - Safety features: crashworthy seats, self-sealing fuel tanks, advanced vibration control systems. Operational Role: Tailored for VIP transport, medical evacuation, and diverse terrain operations. Support Model: HAL offers integrated logistics with Power-By-Hour (PBH) and Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) for high fleet serviceability. Strategic Significance - Strengthens India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision in aviation. - Positions HAL as a competitive player in the global civil helicopter market, offering a cost-effective alternative to imports. - Builds on the legacy of the Dhruv Mk 1 Civil platform, which has already logged 24,000+ flight hours.
