Air India announced a significant expansion of its Maharaja Club loyalty programme, enabling members to earn and redeem Maharaja Points on flights operated by Air India Express to over 55 destinations across South, Southeast and West Asia, in addition to Air India services. Network Expansion - Members can now earn and redeem Maharaja Points on Air India Express flights to 55+ destinations across South, Southeast, and West Asia. - This adds regional connectivity to the loyalty program, beyond Air India’s full-service routes. Earning Points - Points accrue when members enter their Maharaja Club ID during booking. - No retrospective claims allowed in this rollout phase. - Applies to all fare types, including special fares for students, senior citizens, and armed forces. Redeeming Points - Currently possible only on codeshare flights with Air India’s “AI” designator but operated by Air India Express. - Redemptions start at 1,500 Maharaja Points for short domestic routes. - Example redemption rates: - Bengaluru–Chennai: 1,500 - Mumbai–Goa: 2,500 - Delhi–Bengaluru: 7,000 - Amritsar–Dubai: 12,000 - Bengaluru–Bangkok: 12,000 Tier Progression - Air India Express flights now count toward tier progression (minimum flight requirements + Tier Points). - This helps members accelerate upgrades to higher tiers. Future Benefits (coming in later phases) - Priority check-in & boarding - Fly Prior (fast-track services) - Seat selection privileges - Waivers on cancellation/rescheduling fees This move is a big step toward unifying Air India and Air India Express under one loyalty umbrella, making Maharaja Points more versatile and valuable.
