Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2026 opens in Bangkok

The Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2026 has officially opened in Bangkok, bringing five days of vibrant celebrations at Benchakitti Park.

Festival Highlights
- Dates: 11–15 April 2026, admission free.
- Opening ceremony: Led by Tourism Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul and TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool.
- UNESCO recognition: Songkran is listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, reinforcing its global cultural significance.

Cultural & Entertainment Zones
- Songkran 5 Regions Zone: Showcases Thailand’s regional diversity with traditional performances, temple fair activities, sand pagoda building, and Buddha image bathing.
- Food & crafts: Over 100 stalls offering Thai cuisine and local products.
- Accessibility: Dedicated areas for children and the elderly.

Music & Performances
- Leading Thai artists performing daily: Palmy, Bodyslam, Tilly Birds, Joey Boy, Getsunova, Ink Waruntorn, and more.
- EDM stage with DJs including 22Bullets, Joy Lila, Spacemonkey, and Roxy June.
- Each evening concludes with a drone light show featuring 1,200 drones.

Safety & Logistics
- Tourist Police Bureau and event partners ensure smooth crowd management and safety.
- Visitors encouraged to use public transport: BTS Asok and MRT Queen Sirikit stations are within walking distance.
