Indian Railways has hit a major milestone with the Vande Bharat Express network in FY 2025–26: Passenger Growth - 3.98 crore passengers traveled in FY 2025–26, up 34% from 2.97 crore in FY 2024–25. - Since its launch in 2019, Vande Bharat has carried over 9.1 crore passengers in about 1 lakh trips. High-Demand Routes Driving Growth - New Delhi–Varanasi: 73 lakh passengers (busiest route). - New Delhi–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra: 56 lakh passengers (pilgrimage travel). - Secunderabad–Visakhapatnam: 48 lakh passengers. - Chennai–Mysuru: 36 lakh passengers. - These routes are boosting tourism, regional connectivity, and local economies. Sleeper Service Success - Introduced in January 2026. - In just 3 months: 1.21 lakh passengers across 119 trips. - Achieved over 100% occupancy, showing strong demand for premium overnight rail travel.
