With an objective to further enhance cleanliness and user experience at toilet facilities along the National Highways, NHAI has extended its citizen-centric initiative, the ‘Clean Toilet Picture Challenge’ till 30th June 2026. Initiative: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has extended its citizen-centric campaign, the Clean Toilet Picture Challenge, until 30 June 2026. Purpose: To improve cleanliness and user experience at toilet facilities along National Highways. How it works: - Commuters can upload geo-tagged, time-stamped photos of unclean toilets via the Rajmargyatra mobile app. - Basic details like name, location, vehicle registration number (VRN), and mobile number are required. Rewards: - Each valid report earns a ₹1,000 FASTag recharge credited to the linked VRN within five days of validation. - Each VRN can claim only one reward during the scheme period. - Each toilet facility is eligible for reward consideration once per day. Scope: Applies only to toilets under NHAI’s jurisdiction (not fuel stations, dhabas, or other public facilities). Verification: Reports undergo AI-assisted screening and manual validation. Impact so far: Since its launch in September 2025, about 350 commuters reported unclean toilets, and 265 entries were rewarded. This extension reflects NHAI’s push to make highway travel more hygienic and to encourage public participation in maintaining facilities.
