The sixth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB) officially began on December 13, 2025, with the ceremonial flag hoisting at Aspinwall House in Fort Kochi. Key Highlights of the Opening Flag Hoisting Ceremony: KMB President Bose Krishnamachari and Biennale 2025 curator Nikhil Chopra hoisted the flag at the main venue. Performances: - A vibrant Thayambaka recital by percussionist Margi Rahitha Krishnadas and her team. - Portuguese artist Monica de Miranda presented “A New Alphabet”, blending sculpture, installation, photography, and film to highlight nature conservation. - Singapore-based artist Zarina Muhammad staged “Procession for a Shifting Storm”, reflecting Kochi’s heritage as a port city. - Delhi-based choreographer Mandeep Raikhy performed “Hallucinations of an Artifact”, addressing themes of gender, nationalism, and sexuality. Official Inauguration: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan declared the Biennale open at Parade Ground, followed by a music concert into the night.
