Air India removes enroute fuel stop on Delhi-Toronto flights from 1 August 2026, deploys B787-9

Air India announced a significant upgrade to its Delhi-Toronto service, with the deployment of its brand-new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the route from 1 August 2026, enabling the airline to remove the enroute fuel stop at Vienna and operate the service non-stop.

Route Upgrade
- From 1 August 2026, Air India will operate non-stop flights between Delhi and Toronto, removing the current enroute fuel stop at Vienna.
- This reduces flight time by nearly 3 hours — from ~20 hours (with stop) to ~17 hours.
- The return Toronto–Delhi service remains non-stop at ~16 hours.
- Frequency restored to daily flights (previously reduced to 5 weekly due to fuel prices and geopolitical factors).

Aircraft Deployment
- Air India will introduce its brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on this route.
- Features a three-class cabin:
- Business Class: 30 private suites, direct aisle access, fully flat beds, wireless charging, 17-inch 4K QLED HDR screens.
- Premium Economy: 28 seats, 38-inch pitch, wider recline, 13.3-inch 4K QLED HDR screens.
- Economy Class: 238 ergonomically designed seats, 11.6-inch 4K QLED HDR screens.

Passenger Experience Enhancements
- Premium Economy introduced for the first time on this route.
- Next-gen inflight entertainment with 3,000+ hours of content, Bluetooth audio, USB-A/USB-C charging, and AC outlets.
- Mood lighting inspired by Indian wellness traditions.

- AI187 Delhi–Toronto: Departs 01:45 hrs, arrives 09:30 hrs.
- AI188 Toronto–Delhi: Departs 12:30 hrs, arrives 14:05 hrs (+1).
