Emirates SkyCargo has achieved a major milestone by becoming the first airline cargo carrier to deploy the Boeing 777-300ERSF (passenger-to-freighter conversion).
Aircraft & Capacity
- The first converted aircraft (A6-EBK) entered service with a Hong Kong–Dubai flight, carrying over 100 tonnes of cargo.
- Offers 811 m³ cargo volume, a 25% increase over the Boeing 777-F production freighter.
- Features 47 pallet positions, 10 more than the 777-F, making it ideal for volumetric cargo like e-commerce goods (already ~20% of global air cargo tonnage).
Fleet Expansion
- This is the sixth new freighter inducted since March 2026 (five 777-F production freighters + one 777-300ERSF conversion).
- Emirates plans to add:
- 5 more 777-F freighters and 1 more converted 777-300ERSF by December 2026.
- 3 additional converted 777-300ERSFs in 2027.
Network Growth
- SkyCargo’s freighter network expanded from 40 destinations in February 2026 to 62 currently.
- The expansion strengthens connectivity to key production hubs and supports global trade across six continents.
Leadership Insight
Badr Abbas, Divisional SVP, emphasized that converting older passenger aircraft enhances operational agility and meets rising demand for rapid cargo transport.
This move positions Emirates SkyCargo at the forefront of cargo innovation, blending fleet optimization with global trade expansion.
