Contemporary Indian artist Kulpreet Singh, a participating artist of the 6th edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, has won the Hayward Gallery/Kochi-Muziris Biennale (HG-KMB) Award. Award & Recognition - Kulpreet Singh, artist at the 6th Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB), has won the Hayward Gallery–KMB Award. - This award offers a South Asian artist their first institutional solo exhibition in the UK. Upcoming Exhibition - Singh’s project Indelible Black Marks will open at Hayward Gallery HENI Project Space, London from June 16 – August 2, 2026. - Co-presented by Kochi-Muziris Biennale and supported by TNQ Foundation. Artistic Themes - His work explores land, labour, and Punjab’s agricultural landscapes. - Focuses on climate change, agrarian crisis, and ecological degradation. - Features a film installation on stubble burning and a five-panel painting created with fire and stubble ash. Curatorial Team - Curated by Rachel Thomas (Roden Chief Curator, Hayward Gallery) and Ananya Jain (Curatorial Assistant). - Supported by RC Foundation and TNQ Foundation, Chennai. Artist’s Perspective - Singh sees this as a chance to bring global attention to farming and environmental issues. - His guiding philosophy draws from Sikhism: Naam, Chardi Kala, Sarbat da Bhala — remembrance of the Divine, high spirits, and well-being for all.
