Akasa Air, India’s fastest growing airline, today announced the establishment of its entity, Akasa Air Leasing IFSC Private Limited (AALI), at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), Gandhinagar. This marks a strategic milestone in strengthening the airline’s aircraft financing and leasing capabilities. New Entity at GIFT City - Akasa Air has set up Akasa Air Leasing IFSC Private Limited (AALI) at GIFT City, Gandhinagar. - Purpose: strengthen aircraft financing and leasing capabilities. - This entity will support fleet expansion and provide access to global capital markets. Strategic Importance - Aligned with the Government of India’s vision to make GIFT City a hub for aircraft leasing and financing. - AALI is expected to finance a majority of Akasa’s aircraft over time, enhancing onshore leasing capabilities. - Builds deeper partnerships with global lessors and improves cost efficiency. Leadership Statement Priya Mehra, Chief of Governance & Strategic Acquisitions, said the GIFT City entity is a “key enabler of Akasa Air’s next phase of growth,” allowing access to capital more efficiently and supporting fleet expansion at scale. Akasa Air Today - Serving 26 domestic and 7 international cities (including Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City, Phuket, Hanoi). - Over 27 million passengers since launch in August 2022. - Operating 38 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with a firm order of 226 more. - Known for on-time performance, customer service, and having one of the youngest, greenest fleets in India.
