Hilton has announced that the storied Hotel Gajoen in Meguro, Tokyo will be rebranded as Gajoen Tokyo, LXR Hotels & Resorts, officially debuting in 2027. This marks the Tokyo entry of Hilton’s LXR luxury brand, known for destination-led, highly personalized hospitality. Heritage meets modern luxury: The property carries nearly 100 years of history, renowned for its extraordinary Japanese artistry and design. Facilities: 60 guest rooms (including suites over 100 sqm), five dining destinations, a spa, fitness center, and 5,700 sqm of event space. Timeline: Operations for rooms and restaurants will resume in mid-2026, ahead of the full rebrand launch in 2027. Cultural significance: Home to the Hyakudan Kaidan (Hundred-Step Staircase), a Tangible Cultural Property designated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Location: Set in atmospheric Meguro, near Meguro Station and the cherry tree-lined Meguro River. Expansion: This will be LXR’s second property in Japan (after ROKU KYOTO), with future Hilton luxury openings planned in Hiroshima, Hakone, and Niseko. Ownership & management: Owned by Brookfield, managed by Hilton. Hilton emphasizes that this rebranding preserves the rich heritage of Gajoen while offering immersive, locally inspired experiences for international and domestic travelers.
