Mumbai- Ahmedabad Vande Bharat to Run with 20 Coaches Permanently From April 28, 2026

Indian Railways has made the augmentation of Train No. 22961/22962 Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express from 16 coaches to 20 coaches permanent, with effect from journeys commencing April 28, 2026.

Permanent Augmentation
- Train No. 22961/22962 Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express has been permanently expanded from 16 coaches to 20 coaches starting 28 April 2026.
- The four additional coaches include three AC Chair Cars and one Executive Class coach, significantly boosting seating capacity.

- 162 Vande Bharat services operational across India.
- 90 services with 8 coaches
- 34 services with 16 coaches
- 38 services with 20 coaches
- Roughly 23.45% of services now run with 20 coaches, reflecting rising demand.

- Covers 491 km in 5 hours 30 minutes.
- Stops at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara.
- Serves a diverse mix of passengers: business travelers, students, commuters, and tourists.

Demand & Growth
- Nearly 4 crore passengers traveled on Vande Bharat services in FY 2025–26, a 34% year-on-year growth.
- Since 2019: 9.1 crore passengers across 1 lakh trips.
- Occupancy consistently exceeds 100%, showing strong trust in the service.
