Holiday Inn Express Sapporo Susukino - Location: Central Susukino, Sapporo’s vibrant entertainment and dining district. - Opening: Scheduled for July 2026 after extensive renovation. - Size: 223 rooms, making it the first Holiday Inn Express in Hokkaido. - Design: Will feature the brand’s Generation 5 design, focused on smart, efficient stays. - Facilities: Express Café, fitness centre, guest laundry, and complimentary hot breakfast. Strategic Importance - Sapporo is seeing strong domestic and international visitor growth, making it a key tourism hub. - This project is a conversion, reflecting IHG’s momentum in Japan where all 2026 openings are conversions. - Partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation Urban Development, Tokyo Tatemono, and The Sankei Building marks IHG’s first collaboration with these developers. Broader Context - Holiday Inn Express is IHG’s fastest-growing Essentials brand, with 3,292 open hotels and 655 in the pipeline globally. - IHG currently operates 59 hotels across 10 brands in Japan, with 24 more in the pipeline.
