Etihad’s inaugural departure from Frankfurt’s brand-new Terminal 3 was more than just a routine flight—it was a symbolic launch of a new era for the airport. Flight EY 122 to Abu Dhabi lifted off at 10:30 AM with Captain Majed Al Marzouqi, Etihad’s Chief Operations and Guest Officer, personally in command. The ribbon-cutting with Fraport’s CTO Dr. Pierre Dominique Prümm and the surprise upgrade for a holidaying couple added a celebratory touch to the morning. Natural light: Floor-to-ceiling windows create bright, open spaces for check-in and security. Marketplace hub: 6,000 square metres of restaurants, shops, and lounge seating with apron views. Family zones: Dedicated play areas for children. Business amenities: Quiet workstations for productivity before boarding. Connectivity: A new Skyline rail link seamlessly connects all three terminals. Etihad, which has flown to Frankfurt since 2005, now operates two daily Boeing 787 Dreamliner services on the route. Both the airline and Fraport emphasized how this milestone strengthens their partnership and sets a new benchmark for passenger comfort.
