Air Canada has just taken delivery of its very first Airbus A321XLR, marking a major step in its fleet renewal and growth strategy. Aircraft & Fleet Strategy - Air Canada will add 30 A321XLRs to its fleet (15 leased, 15 purchased directly from Airbus). - The aircraft offers transatlantic range with significantly reduced fuel burn and CO₂ emissions. - It will be deployed on routes from Montréal and Toronto across the Atlantic, as well as on major North American transcontinental markets. Passenger Comfort & Cabin Innovation - First Canadian airline to offer lie-flat Signature Class seats on a single-aisle aircraft (14 seats). - New “Glowing Hearted” cabin standard debuts: - Larger next-gen entertainment screens with Bluetooth connectivity. - Fast, free Wi-Fi for Aeroplan Members. - Power outlets at every seat. - Cabin finishes inspired by Canadian landscapes. Broader Fleet Modernization - Alongside the A321XLR, Air Canada has orders for: - 8 Airbus A350-1000s (from 2030). - 14 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners. - Ongoing deliveries of Airbus A220s (23 remaining from 65). - 5 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft delivered in 2026. Sustainability & Growth - The A321XLR supports Air Canada’s net-zero emissions by 2050 ambition. - Its efficiency and range flexibility allow the airline to adapt to seasonal demand and open new city pairs.
