Six Senses has announced the signing of Six Senses Beijing, a new urban retreat set within the historic Three Hills and Five Gardens cultural area in Haidian District. This project is part of the renewal of Liulangzhuang, a site deeply tied to Qing dynasty imperial retreats and the Summer Palace. Cultural Setting: Built on land once used as imperial rice paddies, the resort will integrate waterways, lotus ponds, and hutong-style pathways to echo traditional village life. Design & Accommodation: 75 guest rooms and suites (1–4 bedrooms), inspired by siheyuan courtyard homes, blending historic architecture with contemporary luxury. Unique Features: - Waterside dining pavilions and gathering spaces, accessible by boat. - A two-story residence designed for private events. - Private gardens, boat jetties, and magnolia-shaded courtyards. Wellness Programs: Personalized screenings, biohacking, “Sleep With Six Senses,” and multi-day restorative journeys. Sustainability & Community: Earth Lab workshops on sustainable living and the Alchemy Bar for plant-based healing experiences. Global Expansion: This will be Six Senses’ second property in Greater China (after Qing Cheng Mountain), joining recent openings in London, Rome, and Kyoto. Neil Palmer, COO of Six Senses, emphasized that the retreat will allow guests to connect with Beijing’s spirit in a way that is both restorative and regenerative. The project also reflects IHG’s broader Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio growth.
