DMRC Partners with BEML to Strengthen Metro Rail Projects in India and Overseas
The MoU between DMRC and BEML marks a significant step in India’s metro rail expansion strategy. Signed on 8 April 2026 at Metro Bhawan, New Delhi, the partnership aims to combine DMRC’s expertise in metro system execution and operations with BEML’s strength in rolling stock manufacturing. Strategic Collaboration: The two organizations will jointly identify, bid for, and execute metro projects in India and overseas. Atmanirbhar Bharat Focus: Emphasis on developing indigenous propulsion systems and Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), reducing reliance on imports. Leadership Voices: - Dr. Vikas Kumar (MD, DMRC) called it a historic collaboration that will enhance urban mobility systems. - Shri Shantanu Roy (CMD, BEML) highlighted BEML’s long-standing role in supplying coaches to DMRC and the opportunity to strengthen its global presence. Global Ambition: The partnership is designed not only to serve India’s growing metro needs but also to position Indian expertise competitively in international markets. This alliance essentially creates a comprehensive, end-to-end solution provider for metro rail projects—covering design, manufacturing, execution, and operations—while aligning with India’s push for self-reliance in infrastructure technology.
