IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced that Garner Hotels, its midscale conversion brand launched in August 2023, has become the fastest-scaling global brand in IHG’s history, reaching 100 open properties worldwide in under three years. Global Footprint: Garner now operates in 12 countries, including the U.S., Mexico, Italy, Japan, Germany, Türkiye, the UK, Thailand, and India. Pipeline Growth: Nearly 80 hotels in development, set to almost double its reach in the coming years. Conversion-Friendly Model: Garner’s success is driven by flexible design standards, reduced pre-opening costs, and rapid turnaround — some hotels have converted in just over a month. Owner Appeal: Conversion properties accounted for 52% of IHG’s room openings in 2025, showing strong demand for brands that balance individuality with global scale. Guest Experience: Focused on “easy-going stays that get you on your way,” Garner emphasizes essentials like comfortable beds, quality sleep, hot breakfast, and functional workspaces. Regional Highlights: - Americas: 32 signings and 23 openings in 2025, including the first Garner in Mexico (Mazatlán Beach) and new U.S. hotels in Montana and Arizona. - EMEAA: 43 openings in 2025, with a major expansion in Germany through NOVUM Hospitality. Debuts in Rome, Istanbul, Preston (UK), and Kyoto. - Asia-Pacific: First hotels in Japan (Osaka, Kyoto), Thailand (Pattaya), and signings in India. Expansion into Greater China is planned for 2026. Karen Gilbride, Global VP for Garner, emphasized that the brand’s rapid success reflects IHG’s expertise in scaling conversion-ready brands and meeting the needs of value-conscious travelers while delivering strong returns for owners.
