SpiceJet has received a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the induction of 10 aircraft, marking another important step in the airline’s ongoing capacity expansion and network rebuilding efforts. Fleet ramp-up: The Board has approved expansion to 60 aircraft this year, using a mix of wet/damp leases and reactivating grounded planes. Capacity surge: ASKMs jumped from 55 crore to 105 crore last quarter, and SpiceJet now targets 220 crore ASKMs by Winter 2026. Balanced growth: The strategy blends restoring grounded capacity with selective new additions, keeping growth disciplined. Network strength: Plans include operating 300+ daily flights, improving connectivity and reliability. Leadership view: Debojo Maharshi, CBO, emphasized that doubling capacity last quarter was a milestone, and the new MoU reflects confidence in demand and business recovery. Positioning: SpiceJet continues to highlight affordability and regional connectivity, with its fleet offering SpiceMax seating and UDAN scheme participation. This expansion is not just about numbers—it’s about restoring SpiceJet’s credibility as a reliable carrier in India’s fast-growing aviation market.
