The PATA Foundation has announced the appointment of a new Board of Trustees, marking a fresh chapter in its mission to support sustainable tourism and hospitality development across Asia Pacific. New Trustees: - Andrew Jones, FIH. CHA. (Sanctuary Resorts) – appointed Chair - Simon Lloyd (Dusit Thani College) – appointed Vice Chair - Hiran Cooray (Jetwing Symphony/Lighthouse Hotel PLC.) - Sarah Mathews (e-Tourism Frontiers) - Stephen Pearce (GainingEdge) Mission: Since its founding in 1984, the Foundation has donated over USD 1.3 million, supporting 132 sustainable tourism projects and providing 144 scholarships in 38 countries. Andrew Jones’ Statement: He emphasized that after a pandemic-related hiatus, the Foundation is now “moving forward with renewed passion and purpose” to ensure inclusive progress in tourism and hospitality. Focus Areas: Human capital development, vocational education, skills training, and community-based projects that safeguard livelihoods and promote responsible environmental practices. This new leadership team is expected to guide the Foundation’s efforts as the industry transitions from recovery to sustainable growth, ensuring that vulnerable communities benefit from tourism’s future.
