IndiGo has officially signed a contract with Airbus to convert 30 of its purchase rights into firm orders for the Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This move doubles IndiGo’s total A350-900 order from 30 to 60 aircraft, reinforcing its commitment to expanding long-haul international operations. Order Expansion: IndiGo initially ordered 30 A350-900s in April 2024 and held purchase rights for 70 more. With this latest agreement, 30 of those rights are now firm orders. Strategic Growth: The deal supports IndiGo’s ambition to become a global aviation leader by 2030, aligning with India’s vision of becoming an international aviation hub. Aircraft Details: The A350-900s will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, known for fuel efficiency and reliability. Network Expansion: These aircraft will enable IndiGo to launch new long-haul routes, including to Europe and the Americas, complementing its current expansion into cities like Manchester, Amsterdam, and soon London and Athens. This milestone underscores IndiGo’s evolving strategy from a domestic low-cost carrier to a major player in global aviation.
