‘Vasantholsavam’ to turn Thiruvananthapuram colourful and twinkling from December 23 to January 2
The Vasantholsavam festival in Thiruvananthapuram is set to brighten the city from December 23 to January 2. Festival of Flowers & Lights: Held at Kanakakkunnu Grounds, curated by the Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanical Garden and Research Institute. Light Festival: Streets and heritage structures will be illuminated, with decorations set up at a cost of ₹1.18 crore. Flower Competitions: Around 70 categories, including orchids, anthurium, cactus, adenium, and ornamental plants. Separate prizes for individuals, institutions, and nurseries. Massive Display: Over 25,000 plants showcased, plus 15,000 plants competing. Expos & Contests: Flower decoration competitions for adults and students, with opportunities to buy plants from nursery stalls. Participation Deadline: Applications must be submitted to the DTPC office at Vellayambalam by December 12. This blend of floral artistry and dazzling lights makes Vasantholsavam a double delight for visitors.
