Air India has announced a new unilateral interline partnership with Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, expanding its connectivity across Asia and Australasia. Expanded Reach: Air India guests can now seamlessly access over 70 destinations across 18 countries via Singapore, including unique additions like Macau (China), Padang & Labuan Bajo (Indonesia), Kota Kinabalu & Langkawi (Malaysia), Davao (Philippines), Koh Samui & Chiang Mai (Thailand), and Phu Quoc (Vietnam). Convenient Transfers: With Inter-Airline Through Check-In (IATCI), passengers booked on a single ticket can receive boarding passes for both Air India and Scoot flights at their origin, ensuring smooth transfers at Singapore Changi Airport. Baggage Handling: Checked baggage can be transferred directly to the final destination, subject to local regulations. Market Strategy: Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nipun Aggarwal, emphasized that this partnership taps into the fast-growing intra-Asia travel demand, catering to Indian travelers seeking diverse destinations. Scoot’s Perspective: Scoot’s Chief Commercial Officer, Calvin Chan, highlighted that the collaboration broadens travel options for Indian customers to explore Scoot’s extensive network. Flight Operations: Air India currently operates 49 weekly flights to Singapore (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai), and also has a codeshare partnership with Singapore Airlines, further strengthening connectivity. This partnership is expected to significantly enhance travel flexibility for Indian passengers, making it easier to explore Southeast Asia, North Asia, and Australia.
