The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) had a record-breaking month in August 2026, with 1.04 crore passengers (10,404,098) using the metro system.
Highest single-day ridership:
- August 14, 2026 → 4,01,607 passengers.

- NCMC Singara Chennai Card: 52.8 lakh
- Single journey Paper QR: 20.2 lakh
- ONDC: 12.4 lakh
- WhatsApp booking (+91-8300086000): 4.7 lakh
- Paytm: 3.1 lakh
- Chennai One App: 3.1 lakh
- PhonePe: 2.7 lakh
- Static QR (stations): 2.3 lakh
- Online (web): 1.5 lakh
- CMRL Mobile App (SVP): 1.0 lakh
