AERA has issued its tariff order for the Fourth Control Period from FY 2026-27 to FY 2030-31 for Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru. The revised tariff structure will come into effect from September 1, 2026.
Domestic Passengers
- Departing: ₹300
- Arriving: ₹125
- Combined: ₹425 (vs. current ₹550 for departing only)
International Passengers
- Departing: ₹997
- Arriving: ₹426
- Combined: ₹1,423 (vs. current ₹1,500 for departing only)
Key Changes
- Arriving passengers now included: UDF applies to both arriving and departing passengers, aligning BLR with other major Indian airports.
- No overall increase: Despite expansion projects, combined charges are lower than current single-departure UDF.
- Tariff validity: Rates apply until August 2029, after which adjustments will reflect completion of major projects.
Infrastructure Projects Driving Tariff
- Terminal 2 Phase 2
- T2 Phase 2 Apron
- Airfield works
- Road & landside infrastructure
- Incremental tariffs will only apply once projects are completed and commissioned.
Strategic Context
- BLR is one of India’s fastest-growing airports.
- Focus remains on investing ahead of demand while maintaining safe, efficient, world-class infrastructure.
- The new tariff framework balances passenger affordability with funding for expansion.
This is a notable shift in India’s airport tariff model: instead of burdening only departing passengers, costs are now shared, making BLR more competitive while still financing its massive growth plans.
