Anantara Golden Triangle Marks World Elephant Day 2026 with Culture, Conservation and Elephant Research

On 12 August 2026, Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort, together with the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation (GTAEF), celebrated World Elephant Day with a rich program blending cultural heritage, conservation education, and scientific research.

Cultural & Community Highlights
- Pakham Ceremony: A traditional blessing ritual from the Kui community, honoring guardian spirits and seeking harmony and prosperity for elephants and their caretakers.
- Family Engagement: Activities extended to team members and their families, coinciding with Thailand’s National Mother’s Day.

Guest Activities
- At the Jungle Bubble Lodge, guests prepared a vibrant fruit-and-vegetable “cake” for the elephants, learning about nutrition and welfare before presenting the buffet to the herd.

Research & Education
- Afternoon sessions at Suan Sai Jai and the Elephant Camp featured live demonstrations of behavioral studies and welfare research.
- Discussions explored conservation challenges and the future of elephants in Thailand.
- John Roberts, Group Director of Sustainability & Conservation at Minor Hotels, emphasized: “Research is essential because good intentions need to be supported by evidence.”

Why It Matters
This program reflects Anantara’s long-standing collaboration with GTAEF, where responsible encounters, conservation education, and cultural traditions are woven into guest experiences. It’s a model of how hospitality can support both wildlife welfare and community heritage.
