CCTV Surveillance at Railway Stations and Coaches to Strengthen Passenger Safety and Security

Installation of CCTV surveillance systems at railway stations, passenger coaches and other railway premises has been planned across the Indian Railways network with the objective of strengthening passenger safety and enhancing security surveillance. The installation of CCTV surveillance systems is being undertaken in a phased manner. All operational Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat train rakes have already been equipped with CCTV cameras.

Current Coverage
- CCTV systems installed at 3,215 stations and 13,409 passenger coaches.
- All operational Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat train rakes are already equipped.
- Cameras feature AI-based video analytics (intrusion detection, loitering detection, fallen person detection).
- Between 2023–June 2026, 9,840 security-related incidents were detected.
- Rewards are non-transferable and cannot be claimed in cash.
