SkyDrive Enters Business Partnership with Bangkok Airways, SPI and Saha Tokyu to Explore eVTOL Applications in Thailand

SkyDrive Inc., a leading compact eVTOL aircraft manufacturer based in Japan, announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the following three Thai companies: Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited, Saha Pathana Inter-Holding Public Company Limited and Saha Tokyu Corporation Company Limited.

The Agreement
- SkyDrive Inc. (Japan’s compact eVTOL manufacturer) signed an MOU with Bangkok Airways, Saha Pathana Inter-Holding (SPI), and Saha Tokyu Corporation.
- This builds on a June 2024 MOU between SkyDrive, SPI, and Saha Tokyu, now expanded with Bangkok Airways to explore commercial eVTOL operations in Thailand.

Strategic Goals
- Develop a comprehensive eVTOL roadmap: routes, ticket sales, maintenance networks.
- Showcase aircraft through exhibitions and demonstrations to build customer awareness.
- Establish systems for sales, storage, maintenance, pilot training, and long-term local market integration.

Proposed Flight Routes
- Sri Racha: Linking Saha Tokyu’s J-Park/HarmoniQ residences with Koh Sichang, Koh Lan, and Pattaya.
- Bangkok: Air taxi routes connecting central Bangkok and residential areas (e.g., Kings Square Residence) with Suvarnabhumi Airport, bypassing traffic congestion.
- Ko Samui: Sightseeing flights showcasing natural scenery, plus fast transfers between the airport and resorts.

Why Bangkok Airways Matters
- Bangkok Airways operates routes to major Thai tourist destinations (Phuket, Chiang Mai, Samui, etc.).
- It owns airports and hotels, giving it unique leverage to integrate eVTOLs into tourism and transport infrastructure.
- Its “Asia’s Boutique Airline” positioning aligns with offering premium, innovative travel experiences.

Broader Impact
- Tackles Thailand’s traffic congestion and emissions challenges.
- Creates a model for urban air mobility infrastructure that could expand to Japan, Australia, and Vietnam.
- Strengthens Thailand’s aviation ecosystem by blending regional airline expertise, real estate development, and advanced technology.
This partnership is essentially a testbed for next-generation urban mobility, with Thailand positioned as a launch market for SkyDrive’s zero-emission aircraft.
