The beta version of the new IRCTC website is being launched for users to experience the new look and feel of the website and provide feedback on its features.

Launch Details
- Beta Release: New IRCTC website launched at 2100 hrs on 15 July 2026 for user trial.
- Access: Available via https://www.irctc.co.in/eticket/ and linked from the homepage.
- User Feedback: Trial version invites suggestions to refine the design before full rollout.

Key Improvements
1. Simplified Interface: No unnecessary captchas, pop-ups, or distracting graphics.
2. Seat Availability: Visible across all travel classes.
3. Faster Checkout: Fewer steps required for booking.
4. Repeat Booking: Passenger details saved for convenience.

Student Contribution
- Suggestions came from Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) students during an interaction with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
- Students were actively involved in the design process.

Strategic Context
- IRCTC website first launched in 2002, now handles ~14.5 lakh tickets per day.
- Beta site will integrate with the upcoming Passenger Reservation Engine, which is being revamped in parallel.
- Full rollout of the new portal expected in a few weeks.

This marks a significant modernization of India’s railway booking system, aiming to deliver a cleaner, faster, and more user-friendly experience while maintaining operational continuity during the upgrade.
