What to know about Delta’s expanded Basic fare options, available now

Delta is offering Basic fares in premium products (Delta First, Delta Premium Select and Delta One — known as Basic Business) alongside Classic and Extra fares in select markets. This expansion of the Basic experience allows customers to access premium products at a lower price point, giving them more choice and the ability to tailor their travel based on what matters most.

What’s New
- Delta now offers Basic fares not only in Main and Comfort, but also in Delta First, Delta Premium Select, and Delta One.
- The entry-level tier for Delta One is called Basic Business.

Onboard Experience
- No difference in the onboard product compared to Classic or Extra fares:
- Lie-flat seats in Delta One
- Chef-curated meals, wine & spirits
- Missoni amenity kits, plush bedding
- Zone 1 boarding
- You still get the premium seat and service — the trade-offs are in flexibility and extras.

Trade-Offs with Basic
- Seat assignment only after check-in (though you can pay to select within your cabin).
- Reduced checked bag allowance (typically one fewer bag than Classic).
- Lower mileage earn.
- No upgrades (complimentary or paid).
- Changes/cancellations allowed but with a fee.
- No lounge access included — Delta Sky Club or Delta One Lounge requires separate membership, eligible card, or higher-tier fare.

Availability
- Delta First Basic → Flying now in select domestic and Latin markets.
- Premium Select Basic & Basic Business → Available for purchase now, flying from September in select domestic and long-haul international markets.

Special Notes
- Through Jan. 18, 2027, Basic Business tickets will still include Delta One check-in and lounge access. After that, only Classic/Extra fares will. - Gold Medallions and above retain Sky Club access on Premium Select Basic international itineraries until that date.

In short, Delta is giving travelers a way to buy into premium cabins at lower prices, but stripping out flexibility, lounge perks, and mileage benefits. It’s aimed at those who care most about the seat and onboard service rather than the full premium journey.
