The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) opened the Delhi Ridge Interpretation Centre (DRIC) at Patel Chowk Metro Station. The Centre has been established to showcase the unique ecological features of the Delhi Ridge often referred to as the city’s “green lungs” and to raise public awareness about its vital environmental attributes.
Purpose & Significance
- Showcases the unique ecology of the Delhi Ridge, often called the city’s “green lungs.”
- Aims to raise public awareness about biodiversity, heritage, and the Ridge’s role in maintaining Delhi’s environmental balance.
- Established in line with Supreme Court directions and recommendations of the Central Empowered Committee (CEC).
Inaugural Event
- Chief Guest: Shri Chandra Prakash Goyal, Chairman, CEC, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
- Guest of Honour: Dr. P. Vishwakannan, Chief Conservator of Forests, GNCTD.
- Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director, DMRC, also attended.
- Shri Goyal praised the centre as a “wonderful intervention for generating awareness amongst the public towards conservation of the highly fragile Delhi Ridge.”

- Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
- Closed on Mondays and public holidays.
- Entry for non-Metro travelers: ₹11 ticket at Patel Chowk Metro Station customer care.
