Freight Growth
- 142.21 million tonnes carried in June 2026 vs. 136.71 million tonnes last year → 4% growth.
- Freight earnings rose by ₹430 crore (3% increase).
- Commodity highlights:
- Fertilizers: +19.1%
- Balance Other Goods: +17.3%
- Iron Ore: +9.4%
- Coal to power plants: +7% (critical for summer demand)
- Clinker: +7.2%
Quarterly Performance (Q1 FY 2026-27)
- Freight loading: 419.08 million tonnes vs. 413.05 million tonnes last year.
- Iron Ore: +7.44%, Clinker: +6.54%, Balance & Other Goods: +12.16%.
Passenger Traffic
- Nearly 64 crore passengers in June 2026 (up from 62.37 crore).
- Non-Suburban: +3.9% (30.04 crore passengers).
- Suburban: +0.9% (33.77 crore passengers).
Modern Services Expansion
- 164 Vande Bharat services, including the new Sleeper service (Howrah–Kamakhya).
- 72 Amrit Bharat services, with 4 new ones launched in June.
