Agoda and the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) have expanded their partnership for 2026 to spotlight Macao’s boutique and independent hotels, particularly in the Outer Harbour District (ZAPE and NAPE). Focus on unique stays: The collaboration promotes properties beyond Macao’s well-known clusters, showcasing neighborhood experiences near the waterfront. Rising demand: Agoda search data shows strong growth in interest from diverse markets — Middle East (+247%), India (+70%), Japan (+62%), Thailand (+56%), Philippines (+39%), and Singapore (+25%). Broader reach: The partnership aims to attract travelers from new markets such as Brazil, Vietnam, and Central Asia. Tourism priorities: Supported by visa facilitation, stronger connectivity, and Muslim-friendly tourism initiatives, Macao is broadening its appeal to international visitors. Strategic collaboration: Agoda combines its global accommodation, flights, and activities network with MGTO’s destination priorities, helping boutique hotels gain visibility and connect with new traveler segments. Damien Pfrisch, Agoda’s Chief Commercial Officer, noted that the partnership is about “bringing neighbourhood areas like the Outer Harbour District to the forefront and showcasing boutique stays that reflect the city’s character.” This move underscores Macao’s strategy to diversify its tourism story, moving beyond casinos and traditional attractions to highlight authentic neighborhood experiences.
