Minor Hotels Signs Anantara's First Resort and Urban Hotel in India

Minor Hotels has announced a major milestone for its luxury brand Anantara Hotels & Resorts in India. Two new properties are confirmed:

Anantara Zanti Coorg Resort
- Opening: 2028
- Location: Near Madikeri, Coorg, Karnataka, in the UNESCO‑recognized Western Ghats
- Design: By Sri Lankan architect Channa Daswatte, protégé of Geoffrey Bawa
- Highlights:
- 69 rooms and villas
- Four dining venues
- Anantara Spa & wellness centre
- Fitness studio, pool, library, kids’ club
- Meeting and event spaces
- Concept: Immersive experiences rooted in Coorg’s coffee heritage, natural landscapes, and Kodava culture

Anantara Kolkata Hotel
- Opening: 2032
- Location: Within the upcoming World Trade Center Salt Lake, Kolkata
- Scale: 170 rooms
- Facilities:
- Two restaurants and a lobby lounge
- Flexible meeting and event spaces
- Spa, gym, and swimming pool
- Purpose: Designed to meet Kolkata’s growing demand for business travel and events, while offering leisure amenities

Expansion Strategy
- These signings follow the debut of Anantara Jewel Bagh Jaipur in 2025 and the first Avani+ Sunray Beach Visakhapatnam Resort.
- Minor Hotels aims to reach 50 properties in India within the next decade, balancing leisure destinations like Coorg with urban hubs like Kolkata.
- Growth will be driven by luxury and premium brands (Anantara, Avani, NH Collection) as well as select-service brands (NH, Oaks, iStay) to expand into tier‑2/3 cities and airport locations

This dual launch—one resort in the lush Western Ghats and one urban hotel in Kolkata—signals Minor Hotels’ intent to capture both India’s booming domestic leisure market and its expanding business travel sector.
