To mark Lufthansa's 100th founding anniversary, the world's largest passenger aircraft now also shines in a special blue design.Yesterday evening, the Airbus A380 landed at Munich Airport under flight number LH9901. Anniversary Livery: To celebrate Lufthansa’s 100th founding anniversary (1926–2026), the Airbus A380 (registration D-AIMH) has been painted in a bold blue design featuring a 47-meter-long stylized crane and the anniversary lettering “1926 | 2026” and “100.” Scale of Work: The repainting took place in Shannon, Ireland, over 34 days, with 35 colleagues working on the project. The paint covered 4,000 square meters—about the size of 16 tennis courts. Fleet Rollout: This A380 is the fourth aircraft to receive the special livery. Others include an Airbus A350-900, a Boeing 787-9, and an Airbus A320neo. More aircraft, including a Boeing 747-8 and an Airbus A350-1000, will follow. Service Entry: The freshly painted A380 landed in Munich under flight number LH9901 and will enter regular service in March 2026. Cost Efficiency: Lufthansa emphasized that the special liveries are applied during regular repainting cycles or at the factory for new deliveries, ensuring minimal additional costs for the anniversary program. This initiative is part of a broader fleet-wide celebration, with seven aircraft in total set to showcase the centennial design, making Lufthansa’s milestone highly visible across its global network.
