Adani Defence & Aerospace, a leading player in India’s aerospace and defence, and the flagship company of Adani Enterprises Ltd and Embraer, a global leader in aerospace, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop an integrated regional transport aircraft ecosystem in India. MoU Signed (Jan 27, 2026): Adani Defence & Aerospace and Brazil’s Embraer have agreed to collaborate on building a Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) ecosystem in India. Scope of Collaboration: - Aircraft manufacturing and assembly line setup in India. - Supply chain development and aftermarket services. - Pilot training and aviation skill-building. Indigenization Goal: The partnership will gradually increase local production, aligning with Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the UDAN regional connectivity scheme. Strategic Significance: - Strengthens India–Brazil aerospace ties. - Supports India’s ambition to bridge urban–rural divides with regional aviation. - Generates high-skill employment across engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and support services. Industry Footprint: - Embraer already has ~50 aircraft operating in India, including the Legacy 600 and Netra AEW&C with the Indian Air Force, plus Star Air’s fleet of E175 and ERJ145. - Adani Defence brings airport infrastructure, MRO services, UAV manufacturing, and pilot training capacity. Broader Impact This partnership positions India to: - Develop its own regional aircraft program rather than relying solely on imports. - Strengthen domestic aviation supply chains. - Elevate its role in the global aerospace industry.
