KLM is rolling out free WiFi in phases across most of the aircraft used for its European routes. Half of the European fleet will be equipped with free internet service as of Thursday. Service Launch - Starting 22 January 2026, KLM passengers on European routes can enjoy complimentary internet access. - This makes KLM one of the first European airlines to provide free WiFi across short-haul flights. Rollout Plan - Initially, half of KLM’s European fleet will be equipped with free WiFi. - Full rollout will cover all Airbus A321neo, Embraer 195-E2, and part of the Boeing 737-800 fleet in the coming years. Passenger Experience - Since KLM’s European fleet does not have in-seat entertainment screens, free WiFi allows passengers to: - Email, browse, and stream content - Listen to music or play games - Stay connected throughout the flight - Access requires logging in or registering as a Flying Blue member, after which passengers get unlimited internet. Customer-Centric Approach - Stephanie Putzeist, Head of Customer Experience at KLM, noted that free internet has been a long-standing passenger request. - The initiative is designed to make travel more personal and comfortable, letting passengers plan their journey their own way. Fleet Modernization - Since August 2025, KLM has added 12 new A321neo aircraft exclusively for European destinations. - These aircraft feature WiFi and modern seating, enhancing overall comfort. In short, KLM is positioning itself as a leader in passenger experience innovation, turning connectivity into a standard feature for European travelers.
