The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), in line with the vision of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), is set to introduce Integrated Last Mile Connectivity (LMC) services from metro stations to enhance passenger convenience and ensure seamless end-to-end urban mobility across the National Capital Region (NCR). Objective - Enhance end-to-end urban mobility across Delhi NCR. - Provide seamless first- and last-mile access to metro stations. - Reduce air pollution by encouraging commuters to use organized, eco-friendly transport options. Collaboration - DMRC has signed an MoU with Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Ltd. (STCL). - STCL operates the “Bharat Taxi” platform, backed by the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India. - Focus: Cooperative-based, transparent, and affordable mobility services. Services Offered - Bike taxis, auto-rickshaws, and cab services from metro stations. - Initially rolled out at 10 identified metro stations. - Pilot phase: Dedicated bike taxi services at Millennium City Centre and Botanical Garden stations by 31 January 2026. Digital Integration - Bharat Taxi app will be integrated with the DMRC Sarthi app. - Commuters can plan, book, and pay for metro + last-mile services in one flow. - Features: fare estimates, vehicle tracking, reduced waiting time, and improved transparency. Fare Structure - Competitive pricing compared to market rates. - Peak-hour surges capped to ensure affordability. - Designed to balance commuter convenience with service provider sustainability. Sustainability Impact - Organized last-mile services expected to: - Reduce reliance on private vehicles. - Lower vehicular emissions. - Improve Delhi’s air quality. - Supports national goals of sustainability, digital integration, and cooperative development. 👉 In short, DMRC is moving towards a digitally integrated, eco-friendly, and commuter-centric transport ecosystem, making metro travel more attractive and convenient.
