From September 26 to the end of October, the 2025 Beijing Chaoyang International Light Festival has transformed the city into a radiant canvas of art, technology, and culture. With the theme “Together! We Shine!”, this year’s edition unveils nearly 60 large-scale light and sculpture installations, captivating both locals and global visitors. Festival Highlights - Main Venue: The Liangma River, its banks, and Chaoyang Park have been reimagined as a luminous wonderland. - Interactive Aquatic Installations: - Blue Whale and Pegasus—mechanical creatures that “swim” across the river. - Cultural Performances: - BBC Earth Live Symphony Concert - Shaun the Sheep animated show - Yin Ge: Hong Kong Cinema Classics Symphony Concert - Shell Theater Debut: Beijing’s first outdoor water-based performance space opens at Chaoyang Park. - Floating “Cube” Stage: A dreamlike fusion with Beijing’s skyline on North Lake—an Instagrammable hotspot. Global Collaboration - Directed by Richard Taylor, with contributions from international light art teams including Singapore. - Partnered with the China Urban Sculpture Artists Association and top eight Chinese art academies. Pop Culture Meets Light Art - “Star Bear” Stage at POP MART City - Wakuku’s Urban Pop-Up Installations along Liangma River and Chaowai UIC Complex - INS New Paradise waterfront leisure experiences With over 100 high-quality performances and immersive installations, this festival is a celebration of urban creativity, cultural fusion, and luminous storytelling.
