Union Minister Nitin Gadkari emphasized that India's infrastructure must be people-centric, with 670 roadside amenities already developed nationwide to enhance comfort and convenience for citizens.

At the CII National Conference on “Future of Smart Roads – Safety, Sustainability and Resilience” held in New Delhi, Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, outlined a transformative vision for India’s infrastructure:

Key Highlights from the Minister’s Address
- People-Centric Development: Gadkari stressed that infrastructure should prioritize citizens’ comfort, convenience, and sustainability, guided by the three pillars: People, Prosperity, and Planning.
- Roadside Amenities: The Ministry has already developed 670 roadside amenities across the country to improve travel experiences and logistics efficiency.
- Revenue Growth Projection: MoRTH’s annual revenue is expected to rise from ₹55,000 crore to ₹1.4 lakh crore within two years, driven by smart and inclusive infrastructure initiatives.
- Economic Impact: Gadkari highlighted that every rupee invested in infrastructure generates three rupees of economic growth, underscoring its multiplier effect.
- Transparency Measures: In response to public concerns over road quality, Gadkari announced that details of contractors, engineers, and officials involved in road projects will be made public to ensure accountability.

Broader Vision
This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s goal of making India a $5 trillion economy by 2027, with world-class infrastructure playing a pivotal role. The focus is not just on building roads, but on creating a seamless, safe, and sustainable travel ecosystem.
