In line with the expansion of Kavach, now Kavach 4.0 has been commissioned in Gujarat’s first Bajwa(Vadodara)–Ahmedabad section(96-km). Kavach 4.0 Commissioning - Location: Commissioned on Gujarat’s Bajwa (Vadodara)–Ahmedabad section, covering 96 km and 17 stations. - Infrastructure: Includes 23 towers, 20 Kavach huts/buildings, 192 km of optical fibre cable, and 2,872 RFID tags. - First Train: The maiden Kavach-enabled service was the Sankalp Fast Passenger (59549/59550), operated with WAP-7 locomotives and 11 LHB coaches. Safety Features - Prevents Signal Passed at Danger (SPAD) incidents. - Enforces automatic speed control (sectional speed, loop line, permanent restrictions). - Provides protection against head-on and rear-end collisions. - Includes SOS facility and automatic whistling at level crossings. Technological Advancements in Version 4.0 - Improved location accuracy for precise train positioning. - Better signal aspect information in complex station yards. - Station-to-station interface via optical fibre for faster communication. - Direct integration with electronic interlocking systems, ensuring seamless coordination with existing signalling. - Certified to Safety Integrity Level–4 (SIL-4), one of the highest global safety standards.
