Air India has just announced that it has appointed The Aviation Management Limited (a TAM Group company) as its General Sales Agent (GSA) for passenger sales in Mainland China, effective December 1, 2025. Role of TAM Group: They will handle reservations, ticketing, marketing initiatives, and overall passenger sales services across Mainland China on behalf of Air India. Strategic Importance: This move strengthens Air India’s presence in one of the world’s most important travel markets, giving travel agents and customers easier access to Air India’s global network. Future Connectivity: Air India also announced the resumption of non-stop flights between Delhi and Shanghai (PVG) from February 1, 2026, after nearly six years. Additionally, non-stop flights from Mumbai to Shanghai are planned later in 2026 (subject to approvals). Economic & Cultural Impact: The restored air links are expected to boost exchanges in pharmaceuticals, technology, education, and other sectors between India and China. This appointment is part of Air India’s broader expansion strategy, leveraging its growing fleet and enhanced onboard experience, while TAM Group contributes strong market expertise and distribution capabilities.
