Marriott International Inc. and IOI Properties Group Berhad (IOIPG) announced the next chapter of their longstanding relationship, encompassing four new-build hotel developments across Malaysia, further expanding Marriott’s luxury and select-service portfolios in the country.
The Partnership
- Marriott International Inc. and IOI Properties Group Berhad (IOIPG) are expanding their long-standing collaboration with four new-build hotels in Malaysia.
- Together, these projects will add 888 rooms across luxury and select-service categories.
- Marriott already manages seven IOIPG-owned properties; with these additions, IOIPG will own 15 hotels managed by Marriott by 2032.
1. W Langkawi (Opening 2030)
- 173 rooms, marking W Hotels’ debut in Langkawi.
- Located on Pantai Kok beachfront, near Langkawi Sky Bridge and close to the airport.
- Designed to bring W’s bold, energetic style to the island.
2. The Ritz-Carlton, Putrajaya (Opening 2032)
- 215 rooms, part of a 70-storey mixed-use tower in IOI Resort City.
- Will deliver Ritz-Carlton’s legendary service and timeless luxury.
- Positioned to enhance Putrajaya’s evolving hospitality landscape.
3. Aloft by Marriott Sepang (Opening 2030)
- 250 rooms, located between KLIA and Putrajaya.
- Part of a 40-acre commercial development in Kota Warisan.
- Will cater to corporate, leisure, and meetings demand, with strong transport links via ERL.
4. Aloft by Marriott Johor Bahru Plentong (Opening 2030)
- 250 rooms, debuting Aloft in Johor Bahru.
- Part of IOI @ Plentong mixed-use development.
- Positioned near Pasir Gudang Industrial Area, Johor Port, and the Johor–Singapore Causeway.
Broader Expansion
- These four hotels join the previously announced Westin Puchong (324 rooms, opening 2031).
- IOIPG projects a hospitality portfolio of 4,648 rooms by 2032 across Malaysia, Singapore, and China.
Strategic Significance
- Marriott strengthens its footprint in Malaysia across luxury (Ritz-Carlton, W) and select-service (Aloft) brands.
- IOIPG cements its role as a major regional hospitality owner, integrating hotels into its township developments.
