Five Competing AI Futures Meet in Paris as Siri Co-Creator Dr. Luc Julia Opens Global Travel Futures Forum

The Global Travel Futures Forum in Paris (28–29 October) is shaping up to be a fascinating test case for how different AI pathways—from the US, Europe, China, the Middle East, and India—will interact in the travel economy.

Why Travel is the Testbed
- A single journey spans airlines, airports, hotels, payments, identity checks, and digital platforms.
- As AI agents begin to plan, book, and manage trips, no one company or country controls the whole experience.
- The Forum will ask: Who orchestrates a journey across fragmented systems? Who owns identity and data? How do competing AI agents communicate?

Keynote & Sessions
- Dr. Luc Julia (co‑creator of Siri, former CTO at Samsung, author of There Is No Such Thing as Artificial Intelligence) will open with AI Without the Hype, challenging inflated claims and stressing human responsibility.
- Signature session: Five AI Pathways Meet in Paris—comparing approaches in the US, Europe/UK, China, Middle East, and India.
- Later panels will test these against traveller journeys: identity, payments, mobility, interoperability, ethics, and human agency.

Who’s in the Room
- About 250 senior leaders from travel, tech, finance, government, and academia.
- Confirmed speakers include Eduardo Santander (ETC), Tom Jenkins (ETOA), Adam Oubieh (Atout France), Leon Li & Ada Xu (Alibaba/Fliggy), Rylan Henriques (BCG), and executives from HBX Group, Sabre, GEO Tourist, MMGY, G2A, Rednote, Worldia, among others.

Adoption Gap
- EU enterprise AI use: 13.5% in 2024 → 20% in 2025, but with huge variation (42% in Denmark vs 5.2% in Romania).
- The Forum frames resilience not as choosing one model, but as the ability to operate across all ecosystems.

Next Generation
- Pre‑event at Sorbonne University (28 October) will explore AI, Gen Z traveller behaviour, workforce futures, and tourism in 2030.

This Paris stage is part of GRN’s ongoing programme, following sessions in Hangzhou (Alibaba HQ) and Dubai (Arabian Travel Market), with upcoming events at World Travel Market London (Nov 2026) and a return to China in 2027.
