Riyadh Air (RX), a wholly-owned PIF company, and Saudia (SV) announces the implementation of the first phase of a landmark Strategic Cooperation Agreement. Grounded in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in November 2023, this strategic activation represents a collaborative milestone to support the Kingdom's National Aviation Strategy and deliver unprecedented choice to global and domestic travelers.
Phase One: Codeshare Activation
- Riyadh Air places its RX code on Saudia-operated flights between Riyadh and six domestic destinations:
Abha, Al Qassim, Dammam, Jeddah, Medina, Tabuk.
- This allows seamless single-ticket journeys, with luggage checked through and coordinated schedules at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport (KKIA).
- Example: A traveler from Dammam → Riyadh → Madrid can book one ticket under RX.
Enhanced Connectivity
- International passengers benefit from smooth transfers, e.g., Kuala Lumpur → Riyadh → Medina.
- Both airlines operate under one roof at KKIA Terminals 1–4, simplifying connections.
Premium Guest Benefits
- Riyadh Air Business Class guests connecting on Saudia flights gain access to Saudia lounges, fast-track security, and priority boarding.
Technology Milestone
- Riyadh Air’s Offer-Order platform integrated with Saudia’s Passenger Service System (PSS) — an industry-first codeshare technology link.
- Developed with partners FLYR, INK, and Amadeus, after three years of testing.
What’s Next
- Reciprocal loyalty program accrual/redemption (Sfeer ↔ Alfursan).
- Expanded lounge access agreements across Saudi Arabia and globally.
- Saudia will eventually place its SV code on Riyadh Air-operated flights, widening connectivity.
- Riyadh Air is also preparing similar partnerships with 15 other airlines worldwide.
This partnership is a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s National Aviation Strategy, aiming to make the Kingdom a global aviation hub with more choice for travelers.
