The Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, developed and operated by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited (GVIAL), has officially commenced commercial operations — positioning North Andhra Pradesh as a new “Gateway of the East.”
First Domestic Flight:

- IndiGo 6E 9051 (Vizag → Hyderabad, departure)
First Indian Carrier International Flight:
- IndiGo 6E 1443 (Abu Dhabi → Vizag, arrival)
- IndiGo 6E 1444 (Vizag → Abu Dhabi, departure)
First International Carrier Flight:
- Scoot TR 784 (Singapore → Vizag, arrival)
- Scoot TR 785 (Vizag → Singapore, departure)
- Ceremonial Water Cannon Salutes for inaugural arrivals of Air India Express, Air India, IndiGo, Scoot, and India One.
- 52 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) planned on Day One, marking a vibrant start.
Inaugural Ceremony
- Attended by Civil Aviation Minister Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, senior dignitaries, and airport stakeholders.
- Passengers received commemorative boarding passes and mementoes.
- The airport was formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 1 August 2026.
