Inland waterways development in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to support Tourism

The Government has developed Roll on-Roll off (Ro-Ro) terminal, Floating jetties and steel pontoons to promote tourism, pilgrimage and local livelihoods in Andhra Pradesh.

Ro-Ro Terminal at Muktyala (Krishna River, NW‑4):
Built by the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) to facilitate roll‑on/roll‑off cargo movement.

Floating Jetties:
Four jetties constructed and handed over to Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) in 2024 to boost tourism activities.

Upcoming Projects:
- Ro‑Ro terminal at Harishchandrapuram, Andhra Pradesh.
- Supply & installation of three floating steel pontoons in Telangana region of Krishna River (NW‑4).

Detailed Project Report (DPR):
IWAI has entrusted work to update the DPR for NW‑4, covering Godavari river regions near Dharmapuri and adjoining areas. Target completion: March 2027.
