In order to provide a faster, seamless and barrier-free travel experience, NHAI has successfully rolled out the Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system at Shahjahanpur Toll Plaza on Delhi–Jaipur section of NH-48 in Rajasthan.
Barrier-Free Travel
- Shahjahanpur Toll Plaza on the Delhi–Jaipur section of NH-48 is now MLFF-enabled.
- This makes travel from Manesar to Jaipur completely barrier-free, with no need to stop at toll booths.
- Shahjahanpur is the third plaza on this corridor after Daulatpura and Manoharpura to adopt MLFF.
How MLFF Works
- Uses Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) integrated with FASTag-based electronic tolling.
- Vehicles pass through without stopping, ensuring zero waiting time and continuous traffic flow.
- Benefits include time savings, fuel efficiency, and reduced emissions.
Compliance & Penalties
- Users must maintain sufficient balance in their FASTag accounts.
- If balance is insufficient or FASTag is invalid/non-functional:
- An Electronic Notice (E-Notice) is issued.
- Fee must be paid within 72 hours via the official portal: https://nhfeenotice.parivahan.gov.in.
- Non-compliance after 72 hours results in a double fee charge.
Impact
- Enhances Ease of Travel and aligns with India’s vision of citizen-centric, tech-driven services.
- Reduces operational costs by minimizing physical toll infrastructure.
- Improves transparency and efficiency in toll operations nationwide.
This rollout is a big step toward making NH-48 one of India’s first fully barrier-free express corridors, setting the stage for wider MLFF adoption across the country.
