Etihad Airways is celebrating a major milestone — 20 years of flying to France. The airline first launched its Abu Dhabi–Paris service in June 2006 with six weekly flights. Back then, Etihad was less than three years old, operating just 17 aircraft to 34 destinations.
Growth Story
- 2006 beginnings: Six weekly flights from Abu Dhabi to Paris, with just 17 aircraft serving 34 destinations.
- 2026 reality: Up to three daily flights to Paris, plus seasonal service to Nice. Fleet has expanded to 124 aircraft, reaching 118 destinations worldwide.
- Future ambition: Plans to double in size with ~250 aircraft, strengthening its European footprint.
Impact for French Travellers
- Abu Dhabi as a destination: From the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Yas Island’s theme parks, and Arabian Gulf beaches, the city is increasingly part of the journey rather than just a hub.
- Travel perks: Complimentary medical travel insurance (valid July–December 2026) and up to two free hotel nights via the Abu Dhabi Stopover programme.
- Leisure connections: Strong demand for Bali, Phuket, Maldives, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Seychelles.
CEO’s Perspective
Antonoaldo Neves summed it up: “Twenty years of flying to France is a milestone we are proud of, and at its heart are the travellers who have chosen Etihad over two decades.”
This anniversary isn’t just about longevity — it’s about Etihad positioning itself as a bridge between Europe and Asia-Pacific leisure destinations, while making Abu Dhabi a cultural stopover in its own right.
